Aussie Opals Direct is a family owned company based in the port of Fremantle Western Australia.

We buy directly from a number of opal mines and miners and therefore are able to offer quality Australian opal at very competitive prices. We design and locally manufacture a wide range of opal jewellery in Sterling Silver and 9ct, 14ct and 18ct Gold. If you have a specific design in mind please email, fax or call with the details and we will get back to you with our very competitive quote. Alternatively, just give us your ideas and we will design a unique and beautiful piece of opal jewellery just for you. We also stock a wide range of beautiful South Sea and freshwater pearl jewellery.

Our Shop

Our retail shop is located in the historic Fremantle Markets in Fremantle, Western Australia. Originally built as a market Hall by settlers in 1897, this grand old Victorian building was restored and extended in 1975 and has since become a major tourist attraction. Wherever your interests lie, you are sure to discover the unusual at Freo Markets and don't be surprised if you also find a treasure - lots do! We hope that you will will visit us here - have a coffee, enjoy the market atmosphere, browse, bargain hunt, people watch or just sit back and enjoy a drink at the market bar.

Click for Website Fremantle Prison

The Fremantle Prison is one of Western Australia's premier heritage sites, centrally located in the heart of the port city of Fremantle. The Prison was built by convicts in the 1850s and was closed in 1991 after 136 years of continuous use. In recognition of its heritage value it was opened as a tourist site in 1992.

Western Australian Maritime Museum

This exciting new museum is situated right on the waterfront at Victoria Quay, the entrance to Fremantle harbour.

Housed inside is the famous "Australia II", winner of the America's Cup together with other exhibits of Western Australia's maritime history. Next door is the "HMAS Ovens" an Oberon class submarine and the "Shipwrecks" museum is just around the corner.

Housed in a magnificent neo-Gothic heritage listed building which was originally built as a lunatic asylum, Fremantle Arts Centre is one of the State's most dynamic arts organisations, running a diverse cultural program that includes exhibitions of contemporary visual arts and craft, create courses and workshops, free Courtyard Music concerts, touring performances and a number of community based arts projects.
